No more Dr. Bronners

So, basically after much research i have decided not to use Dr. Bronners soap any more. I will not use it on my hair as shampoo and or on my skin as body wash. The reason i have come to this conclusion is because after much research, i have learned that this product is harsh. Yes it is bio degradable, yes it is organic, but it has a pH level of 10 which is extremely high. I have used it for the last two weeks adding olive oil to it, but my hair and skin is dryer than ever. So after someone commented on my "shampoo ideas" post about thinking twice about using Dr. Bronners, i went and did some research and they were correct. I will now be shopping around for new natural shampoo that doesn't dry out my hair.
 Any ideas?

I don't like to waste things, so what other uses does Dr. Bronners have? Any other ideas on what to do with this product?

Homemade Hair Moisturizer

The hair moisturizer that i use is incredibility easy to make. Everything involved is natural and simple.

 Benefits of olive oil:
Scalp & Hair

Vitamin E, polyphenols and powerful antioxidants
Improves overall scalp and hair health
Restores, Protects, and Softens
Soothes Dryness
Absorbs easily/deeply
Deeply conditions
Restores elasticity
Helps prevent dandruff
Reduces synthetic product buildup and pollutants
Good for scalp rashes, eczema, psoriasis and allergies

What you need:

So, basically what  you do is:
  • Get some olive oil
  • Mix it with your favorite essential oil (my favorite is Eucalyptus)
  • put it in a small bottle of your choice
  • and that's it :)
I was using store bought olive oil hair moisturizers(which had weird ingredients) for months until i realized that i could make my own.
TIP: Make sure you take the time to smell different essential oils, so that you pick out something you like.
Tip: You don't have to add essential oils to olive oil, you can use it just like that. I don't like the smell of olive oil, so i like to mask the smell with an essential oil.

Shampoo ideas?

I am in need of a new shampoo. I currently have locs, 7 months today:)
When i had non locked natural hair, i used Shea butter shampoo, which kept my hair soft. I stopped using Shea butter once i started my locs because, well i wanted my hair to loc. lol....I have been using the cheapest shampoos in stores because i figured all shampoo do the same thing. The problem now is that i feel that those shampoos are drying out my hair. I want something that adds moisture to my hair, something that doesn't dry it out. Any ideas?
